Description: The Georgia Prevention Institute is a research division of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia. We are seeking applicants at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level for a tenure track research position. We are seeking expertise in nutrition regarding the prevention and/or treatment of childhood disorders related to overweight. These include but are not limited to insulin resistance, impaired salt regulation, hypertension, and other risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of faculty members with expertise in psychology, exercise physiology, genetic epidemiology, molecular biology, physiology, cardiology, and statistics. The candidate will also have the opportunity to pursue collaborative work with clinical faculty at the Medical College of Georgia. The Georgia Prevention Institute conducts multiple NIH-funded projects evaluating bio-behavioral antecedents and prevention of overweight, including gene X environment interactions, beginning in early childhood through adulthood. Candidates should be strong researchers in nutrition-based areas that will complement the expertise already at the Georgia Prevention Institute. Candidates will have a doctoral degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Nutrition Science, Health Education, Public Health or other related field. Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of funded research involving behavioral nutrition interventions, prevention of overweight and related disorders in youth, clinical trials implementation and translational methodologies. Compensation will be commensurate with rank and experience.

Description: The Georgia Prevention Institute (GPI) is a research division of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia.  We seek a full-time tenure-track faculty member (rank commensurate with experience) with PhD in exercise science (physiology, behavior) to pursue an independent research program in disease prevention/health promotion, and to contribute to existing projects at the Georgia Prevention Institute, a research division of Pediatrics. Evidence of scholarly productivity (publications, funding) and postdoctoral training are preferred. Clinical research experience with children is preferred, but not necessary. NIH-funded projects include a program project grant on stress-related mechanisms of hypertension risk in youth and a clinical trial of an after-school aerobic exercise program in overweight children. GPI research investigates cardiovascular risk factors, mechanisms, and interventions (race, stress, SES, obesity, sleep, hemodynamics, arterial stiffness, cardiac structure and function, stress-induced pressure natriuresis, stress management, smoking, exercise, genetic and behavioral approaches).  Review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
