Description: The primary responsibility of this position is to facilitate family medicine and health services research initiatives within the Department of Family Medicine.  Collaborating with the Director of Research, the Evidence Based Medicine Coordinator and other faculty, the position will provide core leadership in research initiatives, grant preparation and student and resident teaching in the areas of research, epidemiology and critical review of the literature.  This faculty member would be the occupant of the Hames Endowed Chair and a member of the Research Institute.  The applicant should be a residency-trained family physician who is ABFP certified with 5-10 years of family medicine research, have active funding and/or demonstration of success in securing grant funds, research interest must be consistent with family medicine interests, have an interest in team-oriented research, and is residency training and board certification in family medicine.  Fellowship training in research is desirable, but not required.

Description: Seeking a cancer epidemiologist to join cancer center exploring fundamental questions related to cervical and ovarian neoplasia.  This position offers opportunities to collaborate with a clinical research program which maintains an extensive gynecologic neoplasia tissue bank.  The candidate is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program and will have the opportunity to participate in MD/PhD education and have access to state-of-the-art core facilities.  The position will have a primary appointment in the Department of Family Medicine and joint appointments in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Genetics.  The position requires a doctoral degree and additional postdoctoral training in cancer epidemiology and experience necessary for an associate or professor level appointment.

The Department of Family Medicine provides academic support in each year of the School of Medicine curriculum in major preclinical, elective, and interdisciplinary courses. The Department's six-week Family Medicine Clerkship is supported by institutional/departmental resources and contains a stable network of private practice and community residency program teaching sites. The Medical College of Georgia’s School of Medicine accepts 190 medical students per year, of which ~50% enter primary care specialties. The Department has an 8/8/8 dually accredited Allopathic and Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Training Program and a 2/2/2, 1+2 rural track residency program. Clinical teaching and services occur primarily in the Family Medicine Center of the MCG Health, Inc. as well as other affiliated clinical sites. There is a strong affiliation with a network of rural community health centers that provide a portion of resident/student education and additional opportunities for practice-based research.
