Exceptions to the MCG Faculty Recruitment Process

(As discussed at the August 9, 2001 meeting on Faculty Recruitment & Retention)

Post-doctoral fellows or other non-faculty research positions to entry level Assistant Research Scientist faculty position:

  • Faculty status necessary to apply for research grants;

  • Faculty status would retain a valued researcher with commendable performance; or

  • Faculty status would allow a valued researcher to determine if a faculty position was in line with their future career development;

  • Non Tenure Track / Regular Term of Appointment.

  • Eligible for promotion within the research faculty positions.

Residents in last year to entry level academic rank of Instructor

  • Faculty status necessary for patient billing.

  • Faculty status would allow the individual to determine if a faculty position was in line with their future career development.

  • Ineligible for time in rank for promotion and tenure.

  • One-year Term of Appointment.

Clinical (No Pay) to Full-time (1.00) VA

  • New full-time (1.00) VA appointments - this applies on a case-by-case review.

  • No change in current job responsibilities.

  • Change is necessary to receive PPG benefits.

  • Non Tenure On Track or Non Tenure Track / Regular Term of Appointment.

Temporary Faculty Appointments (see attached Temporary Guidelines)
               Approval of the Provost must be obtained prior to offering a temporary 
               position.
