A. Authority:
The Secretary-Treasurer of the MCG General Faculty Assembly who also serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Academic Council shall be a member of the faculty* elected for a term of two years by and from the General Faculty Assembly.

B. Term of Office:
Serves a term of two years and may be re-elected once. Elected by way of the campus-wide ballot on odd years and takes office July 1st.

C. Responsibilities:

  1. Attends and serves as a member of all meetings of the Executive Committee and Academic Council and special meetings called by the Chair.
  2. Gives notice and distributes agenda for all meetings of the Executive Committee, Academic Council and General Faculty Assembly.
  3. Prepares detailed notes on the deliberations of these meetings and from these notes prepares minutes for distribution to the officers and members.
    Notifies Deans of Schools when any Councilor has missed 3 consecutive Council meetings without justification and asks that a special election be held for a replacement to that unexpired term.
     
  4. Receives nominations for election of officers and members for committees and prepares and distributed ballots to faculty members. The ballots are returned to the Secretary and counted by the Tellers Committee.

      The Secretary-Treasurer sends a report of the results of count to the faculty. Ballots are kept for 1 month before disposal.

      Timetable:
      Nominations of officers to Secretary by February 1

    Announcement of nominees

    Ballot to membership by March 1

    Deadline for ballot receipt by March 15

    Deadline for tally of ballots, 3 days later.

  5. Prepares a list of officers and committees for the September Council meeting.
  6. Sends out request for volunteers for all committees of the Academic Council in February.
  7. Assists the Vice Chair-elect in reviewing resolutions from the preceding year to be reviewed by the Executive Committee at the beginning of each new year.
  8. Serves as Chair of the Finance Committee of the Executive Committee.
