Interests:

Dr. Bogorad has a long-standing interest in surgery of the anterior segment of the eye.   His general practice focuses on cataract, corneal and refractive surgery. He has performed thousands of cataract extractions with intra-ocular lens implants, and over 3,000 LASIK procedures.  As well, he is experienced in corneal transplantation, RK and PRK surgery, INTACS and epikeratophakia.  Previously, he was director of refractive surgery in the Henry Ford Health System Department of Ophthalmology, one of the nation’s largest eye departments, and pioneered LASIK surgery in that institution. He was responsible for the credentialing of other Henry Ford eye surgeons in LASIK surgery.  He is now Director of Refractive Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Bogorad has served as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University Of Michigan School Of Medicine.   He is associate professor of Ophthalmology at MCG, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Bogorad received the MD degree with Honors from the New York University School of Medicine, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha.  He received an award from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in an international competition of eye surgery training videos.  Dr. Bogorad has been an author of articles in the peer review literature, including citations in the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.  As well, he has authored chapters in medical texts, and lectured extensively and regional and national meetings.
