General Information
What is the “MCG EXPRESSCARD” and how
does it work?
Your picture ID card is your MCG ExpressCard! Your MCG ExpressCard gives
you the option and ease of cash-less purchases with general funds called MCG
EXPRESS DOLLAR$ that are accepted at ALL participating card locations.
Depending on your anticipated campus
spending needs, you deposit an amount of money to your account. Every time
you make a purchase at locations accepting the MCG EXPRESSCARD, your ID is
passed through a card reader and the amount of the purchase is
electronically deducted from your account via the magnetic stripe on the
back of the card. Your card must be presented at the time of each
transaction. If your balance is lower than the transaction, your purchase
will not normally be deducted, so you shouldn’t overdraw your account. Every
time you make a purchase with your card, the remaining balance will be
displayed, so you’ll always know how much you have left in your account.
Who is eligible?
Anyone with a valid MCG picture ID card that is employed or enrolled at
the Medical College of Georgia, or MCG Health, Inc. is eligible. Frequent
visitors or guests may request a non-photo card/account.
What are the benefits of using the MCG
ExpressCard?
Your MCG ExpressCard saves you time and money!
-
Access... You can manage your
account ONLINE at www.mcg.edu/express – check your balance, view
transactions, and make deposits 24/7 from any computer with internet
access.
-
Security... It’s safer than
carrying cash. Leave your wallet locked up and use your ID. Since your
photo and encoded information are on the MCG ExpressCard, it is very
difficult for someone else to use your card and your account can be
blocked if you lose or misplace the card.
-
Convenience...You no longer have
to fumble for money or change to pay for refreshments, snacks, meals,
books, supplies, copies, or print at participating locations. Unlike
credit cards, there are never bills or finance charges to worry
about...And it’s really fast!
-
Control... It’s an excellent
money management tool helping you budget and plan for your campus needs.
Locations accepting the card routinely offer special discounts available
only to MCG ExpressCard users.
