We have a robust conference schedule with heavy emphasis on core Emergency Medicine content. The conferences are designed to ensure that you will possess a superior knowledge base, thus ensuring quality patient care and successful passage of the ABEM Qualifying and Oral Certification Examinations.
Highlights include:
- Grand Rounds. Occurs every Wednesday from 7 AM – 12 PM. Content is based on the Rosen’s reading curriculum and includes faculty and resident lectures, simulation, and interactive conferences. Regularly occurring topics include Radiology, EKG, and Morbidity and Mortality conferences.
- Morning Report. Occurs daily in the ED from 7 AM – 7:45 AM. Format involves board review, including oral cases, and case discussions focusing on actual patients seen in the ED overnight.
- Journal Club. Occurs monthly either during Grand Rounds or at a faculty member’s home. The focus is on reviewing current Emergency Medicine literature that impacts the clinical practice of Emergency Medicine.
- Procedure Laboratories. Residents participate in cadaver labs and porcine labs on a regular basis. The labs provide a unique opportunity to learn high acuity, low volume procedural skills including transvenous cardiac pacing, thoracotomy, cricothyroidotomy, etc.
