Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Medicine Residents at MCG have the opportunity to become
involved in EMS activities by serving as a 3rd person on EMS "ride-alongs",
and by serving, under supervision, as the base station medical control
physician. Some choose to become more involved in EMS activities and
may have the opportunity to serve as the assistant medical director of one
of the EMS services in the region. EM Residents are encouraged to
attend Regional EMS council meetings, and to teach at continuing
educational programs held at services and at the regional level.
Currently,
the Department is broadening it's Office of EMS, further strengthening our
involvement with the local EMS system. Resident are strongly encouraged to
serve as knowledgeable and competent instructors in the various courses
sponsored by the Department to steadily improve the skills and fund of
knowledge to EMS personnel who travel from the entire Southeast, Midwest
and Eastern Seaboard to attend the various quality EMS Programs in place
at MCG.
