The Synapses & Cognitive Neuroscience Center was absorbed into the Brain and Behavior Discovery Institute at the Medical
College of Georgia. Once their web pages are set up, these faculty web pages should migrate to the new site. All faculty listed here have appointments in the Brain and Behavior Discovery Institute headed by Joe Tsien.
Mission Statement:
To promote
research on mechanisms of learning, memory and plasticity in the mammalian brain. To foster
translation of the basic research findings into understanding of
clinically important problems, including stroke, epilepsy, post-traumatic stress disorder, and Alzheimer’s disease. The mission will
be accomplished through interdisciplinary research in both basic
and clinical Neuroscience laboratories and education in the MD/PhD and
PhD programs in Neuroscience. State-of–the-art
approaches from the molecular
and imaging levels to
electrophysiology and behavior are utilized by investigators in
the center. The SCNC maintains the Human Brain laboratory along with the Department of Neurosurgery.
