PURPOSE
This program will provide information on technology that will transform nursing and health care education for the future.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Nurses, nurse educators and health care providers interested in current and future technologies impacting nursing and health care education and clinical practice.

OBJECTIVES

  • Identify opportunities for innovation in nursing and health care
  • Describe how information technology has changed health care roles
  • Explore strategies to engage health care staff in utilizing information technology in patient care

Roy Simpson

Roy L. Simpson, RN, C, DPNAP, FAAN
Vice President, Nursing, Cerner Corporation

With more than 600 published articles and presentations on nursing informatics and professional issues to his credit, Dr. Simpson is an internationally known speaker with more than 30 years experience and a contributor to numerous professional publications and editorial boards, including Nursing Forum, Applied Nursing Research and Nursing Administration Quarterly.

Simpson was a pioneer in the development and funding of the Nursing Minimum Data Set (NMDS). He is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and National Academies of Practice, a member of the Board of Governors for the National League for Nursing (NLN) and NLN Chair of the Council of Nurse Executives.

Holder of several faculty appointments, Simpson and his colleagues instituted a world-class faculty for an online nursing administration and nursing informatics master’s program.
