Overview
The 44th Annual Primary Care and Family Medicine Symposium is presented by
Medical College of Georgia faculty. The course directors are Laura L. Mulloy, D.O., Section Chief and Professor of Medicine (Nephrology, Hypertension and Transplantation Medicine), and Ann M. Butler, R.Ph., M.D., Assistant Professor of Family Medicine.

Target Audience

This course will present a broad spectrum of material to family medicine physicians and other specialists who focus on primary medical care. Many physicians regularly attend this course, so topics rotate and change yearly. The presentations emphasize differential diagnosis and management strategies.

This is an excellent preparation for recertification or to review certifying examinations. The comprehensive syllabus with references (provided on a CD) is a solid resource for clinicians and office staff.

Presented By
Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and Division of Continuing Education

Objectives

This symposium should prepare participants to:

  • Understand advances in common problems facing primary care providers.
  • Outline practical approaches from experienced clinicians in their areas of interest for problem-solving and management.
  • Focus on recent recommendations in managing diabetes, infectious disease, cardiology, emergency medicine and pediatrics.
  • Bolster recertification readiness in small-group sessions on OMT, suturing, acid-base, basic life support and SAMs.
  • Optimize disease treatment.
  • Apply the comprehensive syllabus as a reference and review for addressing health care problems.

Accreditation

The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation

The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 54.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family
Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

Approval has been requested from the American Osteopathic Association.

Course Syllabus

Special Note: Each participant will receive the course materials on one CD for ease of use instead of a bulky notebook with all the handouts. The CD will be mailed to each participant several weeks before the course begins.

If you wish to have a paper copy of each handout, we suggest you make a copy of the materials and bring them with you. If you wish to have a copy of the course contents, you may order a printed syllabus for $35 and it will be available when you arrive at the course. There is no additional charge to receive all the materials on the CD.
