22nd Annual Postgraduate
Pathology Symposium

April 18-19, 2008

Featured Speaker
Steven D. Billings, M.D.

"Dermatopathology"

Augusta Marriott Hotel and Suites

Featured Speaker
Steven D. Billings, M.D.
Co-Director, Section of Dermatopathology, Cleveland Clinic Department of Pathology, Cleveland, Ohio

Dr. Billings, co-director of the Section of Dermatopathology at the Cleveland  Clinic, received his training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Indiana  University and completed fellowships in soft- tissue pathology at Emory University and dermatopathology at Indiana University. He has taught multiple courses for the United States- Canadian Academy of Pathology and American Society for Clinical  Pathology, and has been honored with numerous invited lectures and visiting professorships.

Target Audience
Pathologists and dermatologists, including those in residency training.

Objective
The symposium will present practical information about the practice of pathology and dermatology, emphasizing inflammatory skin disorders and selected neoplastic lesions.

Major Topic

The topic of this year’s symposium is dermatopathology. Dr. Billings will present cases covering a broad spectrum of inflammatory skin that often pose  challenges to pathologists due to terminology and subtle differentiating features. Dr. Billings will use a practical and systematic approach to evaluating and diagnosing inflammatory skin diseases and give practical advice for generating informative reports. Dermatologists should find this case-based seminar helpful in understanding the capabilities and limitations of dermatopathology, and their important role in the evaluative process. Dr. Billings also will give a presentation on soft tissue tumors of the skin.

MCG faculty will also give presentations on Saturday afternoon. Dr. Danny
Sheehan, Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pathology, will give an
update on malignant melanoma and Dr. Steve Mason, Assistant Professor of
Dermatology, will discuss the basics of Mohs surgery. Dr. Sheehan will also talk about the interpretation of tattoos.

The Symposium will conclude late Saturday afternoon following a panel
discussion. Dr. Biddinger will moderate this informal session with Drs. Billings,
Sheehan and Mason serving as panelists. Questions and comments from
attendees will be encouraged. Registrants may also submit questions or cases in advance, and they will be included as much as time permits.

Registrants will receive a set of digital images along with a brief clinical summary prior to the symposium. At the symposium, attendees will receive a handout containing information from the presentations.
