FEES and FEESST:
A State-of-the-Art Symposium
May 8-9, 2009

Old Medical College of Georgia

 

PURPOSE
This course will offer the latest information on the endoscopic swallowing
evaluation procedure, with and without sensory testing.

OBJECTIVES
This course should enable participants to:

  • Demonstrate basic skills for passing the endoscope safely and to
    maneuver the endoscope for both FEES and FEESST.
  • Discuss the role of FEESST in dysphagia evaluation including comparison with VFSE.
  • Identify key structures and interpret basic swallowing physiology during the endoscopic exam.

TARGETED AUDIENCE

This course is designed for speech-language pathologists and physicians.

LOCATION

Sessions will be held on the Medical College of Georgia campus. Lectures will be held in the Health Sciences Building. Hands-on labs will be held in the Simulation Lab on the second floor of the Jennings Building.

The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDIT DESIGNATION
The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine designates this
educational activity for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ .
Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
