Brain and Heart Attack 2008
April 10-12, 2008

Prevention and
Management
of Stroke
and Heart Attack

New Location

Hilton Oceanfront Hotel, Hilton Head Island, SC

Purpose
Review the current best practice to treat and prevent stroke and heart attack.

The stroke portion of the program will prepare participants to:

  • Articulate an approach to treat acute stroke in the 21st century.
  • Discuss intra-arterial thrombolytics for acute stroke.
  • Review appropriate management/treatment plans for patients in the first week after stroke.
  • Optimize uses of anti-thrombotics and heparinoids in stroke patients.
  • Review treatment protocols and needs for neurosurgical involvement in intracranial hemorrhage.
  • Discuss trends in stroke prevention.
  • Learn how telestroke can improve care at every hospital.

The heart attack section of the program will prepare participants to:

  • Use the electrocardiogram to predict high-risk heart attack.
  • Review the role of echocardiography to detect cardiac sources of emboli.
  • Discuss trends and management of congestive heart failure.
  • Review findings and treatment protocols for acute myocardial infarction in
    2007.
  • Discuss how to optimize blood pressure treatments to prevent heart attack and stroke.

Target Audience
This course is designed for primary care physicians, emergency physicians, neurologists, family physicians and physician assistants.

Location
All sessions will be held in the Hilton Oceanfront Hotel on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The conference will be held at the Hilton Oceanfront Hotel, 23 Ocean Lane, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29938. Phone: (843) 842-8000 or Toll Free: (800) 845-8001.


Reservations deadline: March 17, 2008. After this date, rooms may be reserved

Room Rates: $199 per day single or double occupancy, plus 11% tax and a daily parking fee of $6/day/vehicle/unit. Reservations must be guaranteed by a check for one night’s lodging or by major credit card.
