Dr. Noffsinger, one of the most prominent gastrointestinal pathologists in the country, has taught multiple courses and served on specialty conference panels for the United States-Canadian Academy of Pathology. She has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters and serves on multiple editorial boards. She has co-authored several books, including Gastrointestinal Diseases, one of the series of non-tumor pathology fascicles published by the American Registry of Pathology. Her excellence in teaching is reflected by her numerous invited lectures and visiting professorships.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Pathologists, gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal surgeons, including those in practice or still in residency training.

OBJECTIVE
This symposium will present practical information applicable to the practice of pathology and gastroenterology, emphasizing the pathology of inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders.

MAJOR TOPIC
The major topic is gastrointestinal pathology. On Saturday morning Dr. Noffsinger will present various illustrative cases covering inflammatory lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. Registrants will receive a set of digital images along with brief clinical summaries prior to the symposium. At the symposium, attendees will receive written case summaries along with appropriate references. On Saturday afternoon, Dr. Noffsinger will present “Drug-Induced Gastrointestinal Injury.”

Also on Saturday afternoon, MCG faculty will give brief presentations. Dr.
Preetha Ramalingam will present “Gastrointestinal Lymphoproliferative Disorders”, Dr. Michelle Reid-Nicholson will present “Pancreatic Cytopathology”, and Dr. Jeffrey Lee will present “Serrated Polyps”. Dr. Rafik Abdelsayed of the Department of Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology will present “Oral Non-neoplastic Disorders and Manifestations of Gastrointestinal Disease.”

All attendees are invited to attend a reception following the conclusion of
the presentations.

LOCATION
All sessions will be held at the Augusta Marriott Hotel and Suites in downtown Augusta. The hotel is adjacent to the Savannah River and is near shops, restaurants and historical attractions. A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel for this symposium.

ACCREDITATION
The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

DESIGNATION
The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
