"Why Are We Striking Out? A New Approach to Preventive Dentistry in Children"
Dr. Roy Rockman, Director of Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Program

A "new approach" to preventive dentistry in pediatric dentistry is called Motivational Interviewing. This approach has gained some attention in pediatric literature and has shown to be effective in altering patients behavior. The technique has been used in drug and alcohol addiction treatment, and now is working in preventing caries in children.

"Cone Beam CT : Three-dimensional imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning"

Dr. Sajitha Kalathingal

Participants will learn about:

•Cone Beam CT and how it works, as well as learn the indications for this new modality in private practice.
•The mechanism to refer their patients to MCG to receive this service and what information will be returned to their practice.

Please make your reservations now and indicate which time you prefer. Seating on each tour is limited to the first 35 which sign-up. (Limited to School of Dentistry alumni, faculty and their families.)

LOCATION
The dental continuing education courses will be held in the MCG School of Dentistry.

MEDICAL COLLEGE OF GEORGIA FACULTY
Dr. KalathingalDr Sajitha Kalathingal, assistant professor of oral diagnosis and patient services, earned a dental degree from Mangalore University and a master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial radiology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. At MCG, she teaches predoctoral and graduate radiology courses and manages radiology clinics. She also maintains a private practice with advanced two- and three-dimensional imaging capabilities. She researches digital imaging and applications of three-dimensional imaging in various dental disciplines.

Roy A. Rockman, D.D.S., director of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry Pediatric Residency Program, earned his dental degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed a pediatric dentistry residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. He is a diplomate and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Dental Corps.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
The course is free for alumni association members and $50 for others BUT any individuals planning to attend the lectures MUST register in advance. Advance registration is also required for the canal boat tour and the golf outing due to limited space.
