COURSE OVERVIEW
The purpose of this course is to allow those who have already completed an
intense course of didactic study of implant dentistry (e.g., MCG
Maxi-Course) to combine that knowledge with the clinical experience afforded
only through actual live surgery. In addition to implant placement this
course will also offer an adjunctive intravenous sedation component to
further aid in the dentists’ ability to offer a variety of services. There
will be an intense one week didactic portion covering IV Sedation, followed
by a one week mini residency in IV sedation. Later a three day implant mini
residency will round out the experience with at least two patient surgeries
with a minimum of four implants placed. In order to complete all portions of
training one will require proof of adequate didactic knowledge in both IV
Sedation and all phases of implant dentistry. The course directors will
select and invite those deemed most qualified for the course.
Future courses in the mini-residency format will be offered for sinus lift surgery and more advanced implant placement.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course should enable each participant to:
Formulate a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment-planning related to implant dentistry
Become familiar with technique for placing implants by performing live surgical procedures on patients
Start and place the IV catheter, administer the appropriate drugs and monitor sedated patients.
Provide sedation and monitoring of patients.
Obtain knowledge and skills for managing in office
emergencies
