FEATURED SPEAKER
4th Annual Hinman/MCG Fellow - Dr. Dario Adolfi
Dr. Dario Adolfi received his D.D.S. at the University of Săo Paulo in 1979. He is a Dental Technician with vast experience in the ceramic field. He is the Director of Spazio Education in Săo Paulo, advisor for ceramics companies and Nobel Biocare/Procera. Dr. Adolfi has published extensive articles, and is the author of the book Natural Esthetics published by Qunitessence International in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Russian. He lectures and offers practical courses and hands-on demonstrations in Asia, Europe, Australia, South America and the United States.

COURSE DESCRIPTION - Dr. Dario Adolfi's lecture
This course on smile analysis will explore the natural tooth form in all its complexity, and apply these principles to improvements in implant treatment, including Metal Free System technology, that optimize natural-looking results. Participants will learn to assess tooth form, shade, surface texture, superficial gloss and see how the fluorescence, opalescence and natural light transmission is crucial to the ultimate quality of esthetic and natural result on both teeth and implants.

This activity will enable participants to:

  • Observe and understand the esthetics of the natural tooth.
  • Understand the role of natural light transmission to optimize esthetic results.
  • Optimize provisional restorations for full rehabilitation.

PURPOSE
Participants will learn about natural tooth form, shade, surface texture,  superficial gloss and how fluorescence, opalescence and natural transmission of light optimize esthetic restorations and implant treatment. The course will provide a step-by-step smile analysis from diagnosis to treatment.

Note hours awarded for presentations at each location (see above).

The Hinman Dental Society of Atlanta is generously supporting the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta with the “Hinman/MCG Fellowship” to bring outstanding continuing education speakers to Georgia. These speakers are internationally known, but have not spoken in the southeast before now. A goal is to make the continuing education program available to as many dentists as possible in the state, and to students at the dental school.

Three locations are chosen, Atlanta, Augusta and a city in south or west Georgia for maximum state distribution. The speaker will give a full day CE course in Atlanta on Friday, then a ˝ day in a south Georgia town, often with the AHEC centers. This year, Tifton is the city of choice for the Saturday course. Afterwards, the speaker will spend ˝ day with the senior dental students in Augusta on Monday, and give a 2 hr presentation to local dentists and faculty that Monday night.

In the past, we have had Dr. Newton Fahl (from Brazil) on direct composite bonding, Dr. Maurizio Tonetti (originally from Italy) on implants and periodontal disease, and Dr. Pascal Magne (originally from Switzerland) on porcelain veneers. This year’s speaker, Dr. Dario Adolfi, is from Săo Paulo Brazil, and is well known for his orderly smile analysis, step-by-step sequence, and ability to achieve maximum esthetics with restorations and implants. As a recent speaker for the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, he brings a wealth of information to the south.

I hope you will join us at one of the locations.

Dr. Van Haywood, Course Director
