The Office of Educational Outreach and Partnerships in the School of Medicine sponsors a wide array of support services and academic enrichment programs designed to meet the needs of those groups of students who are underrepresented in the health professions as well as non-traditional and/or disadvantaged students. The services and programs are offered at the pre-admission, pre-matriculation and matriculation stages of the educational processes for each of the five health science schools.
Implementation of Pre-College and College Summer Student Educational Enrichment Program (SEEP) – programs targeting underrepresented, non-traditional, and/or disadvantaged students interested in the health professions
Implementation of Summer Prematriculation Program for students accepted into Medicine, Dentistry, and Graduate Studies
Provide information on the Stoney Diversity Scholarship.
Supplemental Instruction Program – an academic support program for students enrolled in MCG’s five Schools
Recruitment Team Involvement (visits to colleges and groups visiting MCG) for School of Medicine Admissions Office and EOP Summer Program
Lead organizers for recruitment visits to selected colleges, with emphasis on colleges with a large enrollment of underrepresented students
Academic advisement to prospective medical students
School of Medicine Admissions Committee Service
Faculty advisement and organizational support to the Student National Medical Association and the Junior Medical League
Follow-up and tracking of previous summer program participants
Involvement in University Committees (School of Medicine Student Affairs, Scholarship Committee, Deans Diversity Task Force, and others)
Preparation and submission of grants to support EOP programs
Participation in MCG Pre-Health Advisor Conference (held every other year)
