The Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and Computational Biology Resource is dedicated to supporting members of The MCG Cancer Center in their investigative studies. Researchers will find expertise in planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting data relative to clinical trials as well as epidemiologic- and population-based studies in areas such as cancer biology and genetic susceptibility.
The MCG Quality Assurance Office for Clinical Trials (QACT) and the Office for Protection of Research Subjects (OPRS) also rely on this resource for efficient and accurate database design and management of clinical research data.
Services here also include: scientific computing for data analysis and scientific graphics; experimental designs, such as sample size and power calculation; and education in designing studies, data collection, computerization and statistical methods for laboratory-, clinical- and population-based studies.
The Bioinformatics resource investigators also conduct independently sponsored research in statistical analysis and quantitative methods and thereby develop novel methodologies. These strategies can greatly benefit the work of Cancer Center members.
