The O.A. Parkes Art Exhibition 2009

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Medical Illustration, we have planned some special activities, including the O.A. Parkes Art Exhibition. We’d like to share our alumni’s creativity with the MCG community, including those attending Homecoming. The Exhibition is a means for you, as a Medical Illustration alumnus, to be represented at Homecoming, whether or not you can attend the festivities. Of course, we would prefer to see you and your artwork in Augusta this April.

Our vision for this exhibition is one of professionalism, simplicity and cohesiveness. The Exhibition is placed in the Marriott Hotel and Suites, in Augusta, Georgia, during the MCG Homecoming Festivities.

Each Medical Illustration alumnus is invited to submit one piece of medical artwork to the O.A. Parkes Exhibition for display at the Marriott Hotel during Homecoming. We also hope that you donate your printed artwork to the David J. Mascaro Teaching Gallery, where it will become part of the Department’s permanent collection. In addition exhibit entries will be utilized for promotion throughout the MCG website for those submissions received by February 20.

Each electronic entry will be submitted to Gene Wright and delivered to Athens Blueprint in Athens Georgia who will provide the printing service whereby all entries will be printed directly onto 16 x 20 gator board. By using the provided template, each entry will be created equal and thus enabling a cohesive and professional quality often lost in size variations of matt board and acetate.

Exhibition application and submission of artwork can occur any time between February 1 and April 3.

O.A. Parkes Art Exhibition Deadline

April 3 – Deadline for receipt of all art entries for the O.A. Parkes Art Exhibition (must include payment and registration form)

Artwork Application and Specifications:

There is an entry fee of $25 to cover the cost of printing and mounting. Send payment and O.A. Parkes Symposium and Art Exhibition registration form to Grace Miller, Director of Advancement, University Advancement, FI-1000, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA 30912, or call 706-721-1011.

1. Using the Artwork Template below create your entry and save a TIFF file titled <yourname.tif>
2. Upon receipt of payment, you will receive download instructions for submitting art to Gene Wright.
3. Artwork will not be returned. If you are not planning to donate your artwork to the DJM Teaching Gallery, then you will need to make arrangements to pick up your artwork on April 26.
4. Please submit artwork that would be appropriate for public viewing.
