More and more Americans are beginning to use some form of complementary medicine. Dietetics and nutrition professionals are in growing demand due to increased public interest in good health through improved nutrition. Health administration requires skills in financial planning, human resource management, public relations, and long range planning. Laboratory
science specialists provide Public health workers examine trends and behaviors that drive up health care costs; they study patterns, causes and control of disease; they monitor environmental hazards, apply sanitary measures, and preach preventive medicine.
Veterinary medicine professionals work with both large and small animals, pets or livestock. Veterinary medical colleges require four years of study, while veterinary technician programs can vary from two to four years. Vision care professionals detect and correct optical problems through eye examinations, prescription glasses, contacts, and vision therapy exercises.
