Georgia needs all types of health professionals, especially those willing to practice in rural and underserved areas. Access to health care is impacted by two major factors: ability to pay for care, and physical access to a provider.

This site is meant to provide general guidance in planning your career in healthcare, from those still in grade school to mid-career professionals.

More than ever, diverse career options and abundant job opportunities exist in Georgia for nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, social workers, and many other health professions. Forecasters say that opportunities in these fields will continue to multiply in the years ahead.

The Health Careers in Georgia website is a product of the Statewide Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Network. This network is dedicating to increasing the health professions workforce in Georgia, and to encouraging a more evenly distributed and ethnically diverse workforce.

If you need more information about materials you find on this website, or help in finding information on the website, please contact the Georgia Statewide AHEC Network office.

For career information in your area, contact the regional AHEC nearest you. View a map of each AHEC region.
