This class is primarily designed to train our MCG web publishers the basics of effective web publishing using Macromedia Contribute.
The session will be broken up into two levels in order to accomodate the varying degrees of skill among users. Users can feel free to join us for the first or second half of the session or join us for the session in its entirety.
The first hour will be dedicated to the discussion of overall goals for using the web as a communication medium here at MCG. Users will learn how to edit web pages, create links, upload documents, edit images and perform basic trouble-shooting on Contribute.
The second hour will focus on slightly more advanced topics. We’ll also touch on effective information architecture (i.e. planning pages with a purpose!) as well as provide a variety of tools and resources to help you maintain your website in the future.
Note: The Office of Web Content actively supports the use of Adobe Contribute to maintain departmental web pages. Although in some instances the use of a secondary web editor such Adobe Dreamweaver is necessary for more complex html editing, we cannot offer technical support for this product after the initial application set up is complete.
