Why Give?

Your support for the university's threefold mission of teaching, research and health care is more crucial than ever. You can make a difference to the present and future of one of the nation's top health science universities.

Sustain MCG’s National Stature MCG has distinguished itself in so many ways -with nationally ranked programs, an almost 100-percent passing rate on licensing and credentialing exams for all five schools, huge increases in extramural research funding, the inclusion of  MCG Health System in Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals list for 2002- that our momentum has never been greater. <<More

Attract the Best Talent MCG nationally recognized faculty and staff play many roles in the Medical College of Georgia's success. Our students, too, are held to the highest standards as they strive for excellence. <<More

Make Your Mark Funding an endowment, facility or program allows a donor to make an indelible mark on the university. A gift that meets certain criteria brings the benefactor recognition or enables him/her to honor a loved one, friend or colleague. <<More

Offset State Budget Cuts Our state allocation represents only 28 percent of our core budget. After all of the budget additions and subtractions over the past few years, we’re at a level that is less than the state appropriation in fiscal year 2002. With continuing pressures on Georgia’s state budget, we will have to continue to aggressively pursue alternative funds to support strategically important initiatives. And that’s just the way it should be. <<More

Receive Tax Benefits When you make a planned gift, you can receive significant tax benefits. <<More

Additional Reasons to Give

Student Experience
An enriching experience that fosters leadership, self-governance and honor - for undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral students and professional students - is paramount at MCG. In addition to academic rigor, each of the university's five schools concentrates on meaningful student-faculty interactions in the classroom and in research activities and bolstering the sense of community.

Sense of Values
Reflecting the ideals on which MCG was founded and its tradition of honor and integrity, the study of ethics takes place in every school. Ethical values also contribute to MCG’s strong sense of community.

Balance
Compared with its peers, the Medical College of Georgia enjoys a remarkable balance - between large and small, public and private, teaching and research and regional and national outlooks in its programs and student body. As a result, MCG offers the best of many academic worlds.

Commitment to the Common Good
MCG's commitment to public service in health care dates back to its founding in 1828 by
Dr. Milton Antony. Service is ingrained in the student culture, evidenced in the thousands of hours students devote to volunteer activities. Service to the community and society in general is ingrained in MCG's institutional purpose and heritage.

Leadership in Technology
The Medical College of Georgia has extensively incorporated distance-learning, telemedicine, the Internet, Web-based instruction and other means of high technology into its classrooms, laboratories and clinical facilities. Your support can help us optimize the use of high technology to expand MCG’s reach and ensure our cutting-edge leadership in this area.

Sense of Place
The university continues to draw inspiration from the buildings and landscapes that have developed over the past 175-plus years. More than examples of great architecture, they stand as a national emblem of education in a democratic society. As MCG creates new structures for life and learning, it strives to retain its extraordinary sense of place.
