Reporting Impaired Drivers

State law allows, but does not require, physicians to report the name, date of birth and address of a driver with impairments to the Georgia Department of Driver Services.  The address to use is:

Georgia Department of Driver Services,
c/o Medical Unit, P.O. Box 80447,
Conyers, Georgia 30013.

State law provides that no civil or criminal action may be brought against any person or agency for reporting a driver with impairments to the Department of Driver Services.

In addition, the Department has published regulations with clinical guidelines for certain conditions that may cause impairments.  The regulations provided that these guidelines are not to be construed as the exclusive basis upon which the Drivers License Advisory Board may recommend refusal or revocation of licenses from functionally incapacitated persons.  These guidelines can be found at the following link:
