Emergency Procedures

 

In case of an emergency involving the Gammacell Irradiator, Contact the Radiation Safety Office Immediately.  

The following conditions are considered emergency or abnormal conditions warranting immediate notification of the Radiation Safety Office:

Fire in the area.
An exposure reading on the survey instrument exceeding 2000 uR/hr
Failure of the sources to return to the fully retracted position.

Emergencies During Operation

1) Press "Stop" on the keypad.

2) If the sources do not retract as indicated by a display reading of: "Return Motor Timeout Fault"

You Should:

Turn the key switch to "Off".
Vacate the area.
Contact Radiation Safety immediately.
