Normal Irradiator Operating Procedures  

 

Control Panel

1) Insert the key and turn the power switch to "On."
2) Unlock the sample chamber door <F1>.
3) Load the sample in the sample holder.
4) Close the door.
5) Select the "Auto Mode."
6) Select  vent "On/Off" <F3>.
7) Set the desired irradiation time.
8) Press "Clear."
9) Enter time.
10) Verify correct set point.
11) Perform the exposure rate check with the Ion-chamber survey meter while the unit is in operation.
12) Measure exposure rate at the front of the sample chamber.

   

If the survey meter reading exceeds background by more than
2000 uR/hr.

Press "Stop".
Vacate the room.

 Post- Irradiation Procedure

1) Unlock the sample chamber door <F1>.
2) Remove the sample.
3) Turn the key to the "Off" position.
4) Remove the key.
5) Turn the survey meter off.
6) Return the meter to the storage container.
