Intramural Grants Program (IGP)Program OverviewPurpose The Intramural Grants Program (IGP) is administered through the Office of the Vice President for Research. Its purpose is to assist Medical College of Georgia (MCG) faculty members in competing successfully for major research funding from external sponsors. There are three separate programs available:
All applications are evaluated on the: 1) scientific merit of the proposed studies; 2) specificity and likelihood of success of the plans for seeking extramural funding; 3) contribution of the proposed research to the goals of the specific external funding program under which support will be requested; and 4) contribution of the research to targeted areas of strength at the MCG.
Deadline
(When the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted the next business day.)
Eligibility All MCG faculty are eligible to apply to the IGPs given they meet eligibility requirements pertinent to the specific program. Faculty with voluntary (“clinical” or “adjunct”) appointments are not eligible to apply. Eligibility requirements are outlined in the guidelines which are available at http://www.mcg.edu/SPA/mcgri/documents/IGPguidelines_August2008.pdf .
An applicant who already holds an IGP award may not simultaneously apply for a second award without prior approval by the Vice President for Research. An applicant who has previously received and completed an IGP award may submit a new proposal on a separate topic, but must provide evidence of extramural funding or application for extramural funding resulting from the previous IGP award.
Please refer to the guidelines for details on submission, funding, review, award, and close-out requirements.
