Emerging Scientist Awards:
(Non-renewable award from basic science, clinical science, clinical outcomes and/or epidemiology)

Emerging Scientist Awards are given to a full-time faculty members who are early in their research career. All full time faculty who have been at MCG for 5 years or less at a rank no higher than Associate Professor are eligible. These individuals should be beginning to make outstanding contributions to research that provides insights into mechanisms of disease prevention, detection or therapy. Preferred candidates should have demonstrated distinguished scholarly activity, a record of extramural support and contributions to the research programs at MCG. The scope of the individual's research could be focused on either basic science, clinical science, clinical outcomes and/or epidemiological research. Their scientific contributions should be recognized nationally as indicated by publications in top tier journals and professional society awards.

Nominations must be submitted on the forms provided by two independent faculty. Self nominations will not be accepted. The nomination letters, forms and required supporting documentation should be submitted to the Vice President for Research, Dr. Frank Treiber, CJ-3317, or ftreiber@mcg.edu no later than August 20, 2007. Nominations will be considered by an interdisciplinary committee of scientists from MCG.

Awardees will be recognized at the 2nd Annual MCGRI Research Awards Banquet on November 2, 2007.

This award is non-renewable.
