The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing's mission is to advance nursing science, practice, education, and community service with an emphasis on the integration of the biological and behavioral aspects of health.  The department focuses on the expansion of understanding of the biobehavioral interface between individual vulnerability and socio-environmental risk throughout the lifespan.  The department is actively engaged in understanding, reducing, and ultimately eliminating health disparities among individuals, families, and communities.
