General Surgery
Residency Program
Welcome Message from the Program Director
Our program emphasizes a close interaction between residents and faculty
both in the operating room and out, the correlation of basic science
information and clinical care, and extensive exposure to critical care
medicine. We have a balanced program in General Surgery with good experience
in all surgical areas.
If you are interested in a categorical position, the length of training is
five years of clinical training. We encourage and strongly support a
research year. This has been a very productive experience for our residents.
The program is non-pyramidal.
We have one fellowship in the department: Plastic Surgery. If you are
interested in a surgical specialty, such as Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic
Surgery, Otolaryngology or Urology you should communicate directly with the
Program Director in those specialties. All candidates who match in the
specialties will receive the core general surgery rotations in our
Department.
