This two year Residency is designed to provide qualified applicants comprehensive skills in the diagnosis and evidence based treatment of the full scope of child, adolescent and family psychopathology, utilizing the understanding of the principles of normal development throughout the life cycle. Appreciation of the interactive effects of child and family upon each other within a developmental context is emphasized. This emphasis is balanced by a commitment to teaching evolving knowledge in the neurosciences as it applies to child and adolescent psychiatric conditions. This program will provide the finishing child psychiatry resident the skills needed to function in any of the major areas of the discipline (academic, community-based, military-government, private practice and research settings).
