Our child and adolescent psychiatry program received the highest accreditation awarded to child and adolescent psychiatry programs from the ACGME, five years continued accreditation without citation and with commendations for meeting the requirements for training in the field. It is designed to provide qualified applicants comprehensive skills in the diagnosis and treatment of the full scope of child, adolescent and family psychiatry, focusing on the understanding of normal and pathological development throughout childhood and adolescence. Graduates of this program should be well prepared to practice in any of the myriad of career opportunities available to child and adolescent psychiatrists, functioning as a leader and collaborator across a variety of settings.
Please browse our website to learn about our clinical experiences, intensive supervision and our didactic and interdisciplinary seminars. We are affiliated with the general psychiatry program in an integrated fashion, frequently interacting with the program in grand rounds, journal club, and on-call experiences. Our faculty is diverse and demonstrates specific expertise in a range of clinical and research endeavors, such as Asperger's Disorder, Eating Disorders, Family Therapy, Parent Management Training, ADHD, infant psychiatry, cochlear implantation, and the full range of therapies employed with children and adolescence along with complex psychopharmacology. Opportunities for research experiences are readily available.
Our faculty are involved regionally and nationally in leadership roles in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Donna Londino is the recipient of a Harvard Macy Teaching Scholar Award and is a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology CAP written exam sub-committee and examines regularly in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Sandra Sexson is very active nationally in psychiatric education, chairing the APA Council on Medical Education, on the Board of the American College of Psychiatrists, on the PIPE Commission, on the AADPRT Executive Council, several ABPN committees, chairing the AACAP Maintenance and Certification Program and serving on the AACAP Work Group on Training and Education. She also serves on the ABPN CAP Vignette Writing Committee, examines regularly for both Psychiatry and CAP, having been a Team Leader in CAP from 2000-2006. She is active in the development of the Clinical Skills Examination to be implemented into residency training over the next several years. These faculty activities offer interested residents opportunities to participate in regional and national programs.
