| Prerequisites: Phase I Duration: 2-3 months Months Offered: January through October Transfusion medicine/hemotherapy is a continuously expanding discipline in the clinical medicine application of blood component transfusion and apheresis therapy. Student fellows will receive instruction in immunohematology, blood component therapy, apheresis techniques, antilogous and homologous donation methods, and will participate in clinical consultations. They will have an opportunity to develop a related research project in consultation with the Medical Director. Project structure can be developed prior to fellowship initiation with the Medical Director. Specific activities can be tailored for special areas of interest. Informal didactic sessions will supplement service rotations and required assignments. Rotation at a community blood center for orientation purposes can be arranged. (By arrangement with Dr. Cook) |
