Location: University Hospital Laboratory

Enrollment:  1 Minimum, 2 Maximum

Prerequisites:  Phase II

Duration: 1 month

Months Offered: Throughout the year

Goals: To help students develop skills in the diagnostic aspects of Pathology.

Objectives:

  • Obtain knowledge of Gross Pathology
  • Obtain knowledge of Microscopic Pathology
  • Obtain knowledge of Clinical Pathology (various areas)
  • Attend conference, lectures and seminars
  • Document working knowledge of histology and basic anatomy

Activities:

  • Cutting surgical speciments
  • Performing autopsy
  • One on one microscopic case teaching
  • Clinical pathology case teaching (optional)

Seminar Hours: 3

Small Group Hours: 2

Assessment: Evaluation performed on following skills:

  • Gross examination of surgical specimens
  • Microscopic examination of slides
  • Case presentation
  • Professionalism and attendance
