Chair's Message

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome you to the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

The Department was created in November of 2005 to signifiy that the Medical College of Georgia has formalized its commitment to excellence in the surgical treatment of cardiovascular and thoracic disease. The Department is organized into four distinct yet integrated divisions: Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Adult Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery

The Department has been established to recognize the robust and dynamic growth in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and to advance patient care through rapid developments in clinical and basic research within a multidisciplinary environment.   As a partner in the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, we partner with our colleagues and referring physicians to ensure rapid access and timely evaluation for new patients and consultations.  We provide a patient and family centered environment with excellence in patient care, access to innovative therapy through clinical trials, multidisciplinary evaluations, and processes for continuous improvement in quality.

The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery is dedicated to providing high quality surgical care to the people of the Central Savannah River Area, and to serve as a referral center for patients from throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

.

As a part of our academic mission, and in collaboration with faculty and staff at the Medical College of Georgia, we serve to educate medical students and doctors in the art and science of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

Kevin Landolfo, M.D.
