Steven M. AdairSteven Adair, D.D.S., M.S.*
Professor/Chairman,

Dr. Adair is professor, department chair, and director of the advanced education program. He received his DDS from the University of North Carolina, and earned his MS and certificate in pediatric dentistry from the University of Iowa. Dr. Adair is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and served as a member of the AAPD Board of Trustees from 1998-2001. Dr. Adair is a member of and has served as a consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the Joint Commission of National Dental Examiners, the US Food and Drug Administration Dental Products Panel, and the United States Air Force.

James T. BarenieJames Barenie, D.D.S., M.S.*
Professor/Associate Dean for Curriculum and Advanced Education,

Dr. Barenie is professor and Associate Dean for Curriculum and Advanced Education. He earned his DDS from Indiana University and was awarded a certificate in pediatric dentistry from Eastman Dental Center. Dr. Barenie has been active in dental education since 1970; he came to MCG in 1977. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and is a past president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children. 

Carole McKnight HanesCarole Hanes, D.M.D.*
Professor/Associate Dean for Students, Admissions and Alumni,

Dr. Hanes is professor and Associate Dean for Students, Admissions, and Alumni. She received her DMD from the University of Louisville and earned her certificate in pediatric dentistry from Eastman Dental Center. She began her career in dental education in 1982 and came to MCG in 1986. Dr. Hanes is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a former president of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Hanes is also an Honorable Fellow of the Georgia Dental Association and a fellow of the American and International College of Dentistry.

Roy A. RockmanRoy Rockman, D.D.S.*
Assistant Professor/Director, Advanced Education Program,

Dr. Rockman is assistant professor and director of the pediatric dentistry residency program. He earned his DDS from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and received his certificate in pediatric dentistry from Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. He was in private practice in Boston for 10 years prior to entering the Army. While in the Army he served as chief of pediatric dentistry at a number of bases in the United States and overseas. He retired from the Army in 2002 and joined the faculty at MCG.

Tara E. SchaferTara Schafer, D.M.D., M.S.
Assistant Professor/Director, Predoctoral Program,

Dr. Schafer is an associate professor in the departments of pediatric dentistry and oral biology/maxillofacial pathology. She received her DMD from MCG in 1995 and completed the pediatric dentistry residency program in 1997. She was awarded a Master of Science degree in 1998. Dr. Schafer is the director of the predoctoral program in pediatric dentistry.
