Rheumatology
Overall, a great rotation. Hours are essentially 8am-5pm Monday through Thursday in clinic. Friday consists
of a two-hour education session alternating between lecture at 10am or radiology reading session at 1pm. Tuesday
clinic is at the downtown VA. Thursday AM you help with the fellows clinic. Notes at MCG are currently dictated as
Practice Site Notes. You generally see around 4 patients each half day depending on how many 3rd and 4th
year students, other residents, and fellows there are that day. This is a great educational rotation with excellent
teaching by the attendings Dr. Moore and Dr. Goeckeritz, great pathology, and plenty of study time. Hot topics
include Rheumatoid arthritis, Osteoarthritis, SLE, Gout, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Pain though you will see a smattering
of other topics. Overall, I highly recommend this rotation for all categoricals as well as neurology prelims for the amount
of overlap in patient populations.
