Library and Research
Facilities
The Department of Family Medicine is equipped with two libraries,
the Sappington Library (pictured left), and the other in the call suite on the Family
Medicine Inpatient Service, located in the MCG Hospital. The Sappington Library houses
reference books covering a broad span of medical areas, several years of multiple major
journals, and is the site of Morning Report, Noon Conferences, and other departmental
meetings. It features a computer with a state-of-the-art multimedia presentation system
consisting of wireless keyboard, a ceiling mounted projector, and has a built-in audio
system. In addition, MCG's Robert B. Greenblatt,
M.D. Library (pictured below) houses more than 150,000 bound volumes, almost 90,000
volumes of journals and more than 1,500 current journal subscriptions. The library
participates in an interlibrary loan service and provides multiple electronic resources.
The
department has an active interest in
research and
encourages involvement in its ongoing research efforts.
