any reported accident or injury related to MCG or its properties. The division
is responsible for maintaining and reporting this information to the MCG Campus
Safety Committee. Accident prevention efforts include initiation of corrective
actions.
3.0 Procedure
All accidents and injuries are to be reported and treated, if needed, as
outlined in the following categories:
3.1 Employees/Students
3.1.1 Employees must report promptly to their
immediate supervisor any on-duty and job related injury. The supervisor is
responsible for initiating an Accident/Injury Report (AIR) for each reported
employee accident/injury. This report (Form MC419) is available through MCG
Printing Services and should accompany the employee to the treatment site or
in the event of a need for immediate treatment; the AIR may be brought
thereafter. If the accident/injury does not require treatment, the AIR shall
be forwarded to the Benefits Section of the Human Resources Division. It is
required that students and/or their supervising faculty report all injuries
promptly to Student Health Services.
3.1.2 When the injured employee requires
evaluation or treatment, they report to the proper treatment site. All
employees and faculty are to report to Employee Health during regular business
hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM. When an injured student requires
evaluation or treatment they are to report to Student Health Services during
regular business hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. If after regular
hours, or if the injury is serious and requires immediate care, report
directly to the nearest emergency room.
3.1.3 In cases of serious injury when an
immediate corrective action is deemed necessary, the Public Safety Division
should be notified at Ext. 1-2911.
3.1.4 If the injury is serious and has long-term
effects for an employee such as lost time, the supervisor should refer to
MCG Administrative Policy and Procedures 1.4.17 and
follow the reporting instructions given in that procedure. The Human Resources
Division forwards a copy of all reports to the Environmental Health & Safety
Division.
3.2 Other Persons
3.2.1 It is required that all persons: Visitors,
Patients, Non-MCG Employees, Off-Duty MCG Employees and any other persons
injured on MCG property report the injuries promptly to an MCG employee.
Assistance is offered to those who become injured while on the MCG Campus.
3.2.2 When a non-MCG person reports an accident
or injury, the Public Safety Division should be notified immediately at Ext.

accident/injury. The officer will determine the circumstances surrounding the
occurrence and read the individual the following policy statement:
3.2.2.1 If you think you need medical
attention, you should go to the nearest emergency room. We will gladly call
for an ambulance if you think you need one.
3.2.2.2 If you have any questions concerning
your accident, please contact the Medical College of Georgia Legal Office at
721-4018.
