The Office of Clinical Investigative
Services promotes education and training for all MCG research
staff. The OCIS participates in the MCG Coordinator University,
Research Coordinators United in Excellence (RESCUE), and the OHRP
Research Team Orientation programs. Upon request. the OCIS will
provide training on the MCG research approval process, contract
negotiation, creating a realistic study budget, study patient
scheduling and billing, and other specific clinical research
topics.
The OCIS also encourages research staff to obtain the highest possible level of expertise in their field. The OCIS will reimburse MCG employees the cost of the exam when they pass it to become a Certified Research Coordinator (CRC) or a Certified Research Associate (CRA). This certification is available through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). The ACRP is the most widely recognized certification entity for clinical research staff. There is an ACRP chapter in Augusta that offers continuing education units, training, and networking. For more information see www.acrpnet.org.
For questions about reimbursement for the certification exam, please contact the OCIS Research Review office at 706/721-6247.
