OCIS provides services and resources to conduct clinical research at the Medical College of Georgia. Our office is divided into two primary areas of service:

MCG Health System OCIS Research Review

This office provides a review and analysis of all studies that utilize MCG Health, Inc. resources.  The office also reviews all School of Medicine studies that require Institutional Review Board approval.  The goal of the review is to ensure efficient study start-up and allocation of resources.  The review occurs prior to the routing of study documents for signatures and approval.

Coming November 30, 2009!

Study Tracker! MCG HI will be implementing a new study patient registration process over the next 2 months. This will be required for all studies that utilize hospital services. Information on a new online program called Study Tracker will be disseminated through various venues. Please be on the lookout for training opportunities and additional information regarding this new initiative. Update:  There will be a Study Tracker general information meeting on Wednesday, November 4th, in the IMMAG building (2nd Floor Conference Room # CA2109) at 9 AM and a repeat offering at 4 PM.

OCIS Study Coordination Services

This office offers clinical research services that include study personnel, nurse clinicians, and the financial management of study accounts. Outpatient clinical research space is available and includes outpatient exam rooms, visitor and study monitor areas, and an approved specimen processing lab.

• Alefacept: Kidney Transplant Recipients
• Aspergillosis:  Invasive Infection, Aspergillus
• CORAL: Cardiovascular Disease, Atherosclerosis, Hypertension
• Cystic Fibrosis: Children (12-17 years) or Adults 18 years and older
• GIDEON: Advanced Stage Liver Cancer, Currently Taking Nexavar®
• HUMIRA: Moderate to Severe Crohn's Disease, Currently Taking Humira®
• INTENSIVE: In-patients with Anterior STEMI Undergoing PCI
• LIBRA: Euvolemic Hypotremia (normal amount of blood, but too much water and too little salt in blood)
• Maravoric: HIV-1 Infected, Maravoric-experienced
• Protect II: Coronary Artery Disease, Requiring Balloon or Stent
• SLEIGH: Observational, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Sea Island Community
• Tamiflu: Immunocompromised with Flu Symptoms
• VIRGO:  Observational, Myocardial Infarction
• Vitamin D:  Chronic Kidney Disease, Currently Taking Vitamin D
