Represent MCG Research Information Needs by Advocating for Fair Access by Libraries to the Electronic Resources
Provided by Publishers and Vendors

Objectives

  • Advocate and communicate to publishers and vendors the library information needs of biomedical researchers
  • Communicate to MCG researchers the restrictions to electronic information which impact our ability to provide information, e.g., disclaim, educate, advocate
  • Sponsor a research forum on scholarly communication issues
  • Increase awareness of health information/education trends, e.g., e-mail news releases, articles, etc.
  • Support biomedical publishers who set model examples of fair access and user-friendly formats, e.g., Highwire Press; the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC)

Assessment

  • Develop efficiency of access to electronic resources
  • Measure number of new electronic resources added annually
  • Survey representative faculty regarding library support for their electronic access needs

Partner with University System of Georgia (USG) Institutions to Enhance Research-Level Resources Available Statewide or Among the Four Research Institutions of the USG
