Objectives
- Maximize advanced capabilities of GIL@MCG by facilitating patron initiated recalls and
renewals
- Increase use of electronic resources
- Evaluate scheduling for the Library Information Center (LInC )
- Provide electronic reserves
- Integrate biomedical knowledge bases with the electronic patient record system
- Provide experts in LInC services during high use hours
- Continue cross training so that all staff can help users with basic needs
- Allocate lab workstations for specific functions to provide a balance of resources
- Identify needs of users through suggestion box, informal reference interviews, and focus
groups
Assessment
- Study use statistics features of GIL@MCG
- Evaluate electronic resources on ongoing basis
- Ensure that LInC scheduling matches library usage
- Review a sampling of LInC computer lab and reference questions and responses
- Measure hospital staff satisfaction regarding use, ease of use, and timeliness in
acquiring information related to patient care
- Link OVID Medline and Micromedex to the HealthQuest system
- Obtain staff input regarding LInC operations
- Examine types and frequency of questions asked at LInC
- Evaluate skills and behaviors of LInC staff
