Hire, Retain and Develop High Quality Library Faculty and Staff


Objectives

  • Conduct thorough searches for all staff positions and national searches for all faculty positions
  • Define the core competencies and performance standards for all faculty and staff positions
  • Provide training and mentoring for new employees
  • Provide opportunities for faculty activities related to professional growth, Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) certification, promotion and post tenure review
  • Link library staff development opportunities to organizational needs and to maintain individual core competencies

Assessment

  • Using performance standards, assess annually the progress of teaching, research, and service goals for faculty
  • Develop a library faculty peer review system
  • Use survey to determine library faculty and staff needs to meet excellent performance
  • Use performance standards to evaluate staff annually
  • Maintain salaries for library faculty and staff equitable to related responsibilities and demographic conditions
  • Measure library faculty and staff turnover, publishing, and professional reputation with comparator institutions
