| This volume, published in November 1861, was the last one printed after the Civil War started on April 12, 1861. Editors Dr. Henry F. Campbell and his brother Dr. Robert Campbell announced on the Editorial page that they were suspending the Journal temporarily because of the high price and scarcity of paper. However, they planned to resume printing after the Confederate States had achieved their independence. |
