Because of the often fragile and/or unique character of the materials in
Special Collections, great care must be taken in their use and
preservation. For this reason, and to ensure the longevity and integrity
of items in Special Collections, the collection is non-circulating and
only the Special Collections staff may process requests. Most requests can
be completed within 5 working days.

Requests will be considered for limited reproduction of material when
such reproduction can be achieved without injury to the material,
violating donor agreements, or violating copyright statute.
Reproductions are to be used for personal or
research purposes only unless permission for publication or other
commercial use is applied for and granted.

General reference assistance will be provided for requests
requiring less than a half hour of staff time. Collaborative work
with library faculty for joint faculty publication will not be
