What is the Library Liaison Program?
It's a way of linking with our professional schools, staying in tune with their needs, providing continuity of contact, and keeping
them informed. Most of the liaisons are faculty librarians, with other professional
information staff for some administrative units (strive to match professional expertise/knowledge with programs).
What types of services can be provided?
- Meet with departmental faculty/staff on a regular
basis (e.g., liaison can serve as ex-officio member of Chairs meetings
and/or school faculty assemblies; liaison can work with an assigned
representative from a department)
- Distribute information on new services and resources
- Collect recommendations for new resources and
services
- Demonstrate library resources and services
- Provide hands-on training on use of resources
- Provide customized and/or individualized
instructional sessions
What are the benefits?
- Increased communication
- Schools well informed and updated about library resources and services
- Consistent reference contact for feedback-problems, questions, etc.
- Library and School collaboration
