EDUCATION priority: Continuously enhance the quality of the educational programs to address the changing health care environment  
    
1.0  Library faculty participated in campus-wide activities for educational programs.
1.1 Served on academic committees including Academic Council and Educational Strategic Planning Committee 
1.2   Served as liaisons to schools and divisions on campus to provide consultations, and new information about resources and services
1.3 Served on Minority Academic Advisory Program Committee
2.0  Library faculty integrated lifelong learning skills and information literacy into the curriculum of all schools.
2.1 Developed and taught the Information Management module for Phase I students of the School of Medicine (SOM) Essentials of Medicine course
2.2 Developed and taught nine guest lectures in the School of Allied Health Sciences curriculum (undergraduate and graduate level courses)
2.3 Developed and taught seven guest lectures in the School of Nursing curriculum (undergraduate and graduate level courses)
2.4 Developed and taught a workshop series for Masters level students in the School of Dentistry
3.0  Library faculty enhanced faculty, resident, and staff skills by providing information literacy instruction.
3.1 Taught incoming OB/GYN and Pediatric residents to find quality information
3.2 Attended Pediatric Journal Club to emphasize quality and availability of resources
3.3 Served as small group facilitators and provided Library instruction for the Student Educational Enrichment Program (SEEP)
4.0 Library faculty provided outreach and distant education services to the MCG community and beyond
4.1 Traveled to off-campus sites to teach Library skills courses to distant learners
4.2 Provided local materials to MCG students and faculty at distant sites
4.3 Provided Ovid Jumpstart links to full text articles for WebCT classes
4.4 Provided collection development advice and acquisitions for distant education programs in Allied Health
4.5 Provided web-based information and handouts
4.5.1 Updated and increased information on web for distant learners
4.5.2 Assumed direction of the MCG History website for information and historical photos
4.6 Created new and enhanced historical informational/educational displays.
4.6.1 Featured an exhibit in conjunction with Black History Month of African American Pioneers in the Health Sciences highlighting achievement of African Americans in the Health Sciences from the 18th century to the present
4.6.2 Showcased a reproduction of the original handwritten minutes of the Augusta Medical Society and a historical display of the MCG Library from 1834-Present
4.7 Offered a class Introduction of the Ovid Databases to AHEC preceptors for Continuing Medical Education credit
5.0 Library faculty and staff incorporated technology in teaching/enhancement of educational methodologies.
5.1 Provided hands-on computer practice for most classes
5.2 Used multimedia presentations for classes  
5.3 Provided a new state-of-the-art electronic classroom for enhanced instruction and active learning  
5.4 Participated in the Schools’ registration and orientation programs  
6.0 Library faculty and staff participated significantly in the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) Self-Study Process.  
6.1 Completed the Library and Computer/Information Resources portions of the database  
6.2 Served on the LCME Self-Study Task Force, Library and Computer/Information Resources Committee  
6.3 Met with the site visit team  
7.0 In response to requests from clinical faculty, new sections of open enrollment information literacy classes were scheduled in the evening.
